December 8, 2012 Fort to Sea (or Sea to Fort in our case)

Finally! We got a break in the weather on a day that we could escape to the  6 mile (OW) Fort to Sea trail.
It was cold and raining lightly, but with our trusty jackets it didn't even phase us. We met 5 other hikers who were braving it as well, although we were the only ones doing the whole thing--up and back. There was a new trail--new to us anyway--the Kwis Kwis which added a couple of miles but bypassed a mile or so of road walk and the swampy boardwalk area. It was a great option and one we will be sure to take again in the future. As I mentioned, it was wet and overcast so there were no views but the mushrooms were very cooperative which explains why there are so many photos of them. Please enjoy our trip...

The fog made everything look surreal. Converting the photo to B&W only emphasizes it.

These mushrooms are so colorful.

A more opened example of the last one.

We saw lots of deer tracks but this is the only wildlife we actually saw.

My glove is about 8" to give you an idea of how large this "fun-guy" is.

These slimy little guys were all over!

When there's nothing else to photograph, we must resort to self portraits.

Thanks for hiking with us! We love hiking!

  1. I like your selection of photos! The lighting looks good with the fog.

  2. The mushrooms were beautiful, and I don't even like mushrooms. The self portrait was fun and beautiful also. Wish we were there.
