Cape Lookout over and over

We love Cape Lookout trail(s). They are
easy to moderate  trails and can be done individually or doubly or what we call the triple crown, all three at once. The short trail, going to the beach is about 1 mile long one way and mostly down/up depending on which way you are going. The Cape hike is about 2 1/2 miles one way and relatively level but usually muddy as heck. It is also very scenic. The final trail is also about 2 1/2 miles (OW) and goes to the campground. It's got lots of up and downs and is the hardest of the three as well as the least scenic. For whatever reason, it's also our favorite.

We often go there when we don't know what we what to do or don't have much time so we have several options. We've had the pleasure of having our friends Jerry and Kathy hike the cape with us.

Here are a few photos from different trips...

I finally got lucky enough that this little fellow held still for photos! I thought kids were hard to catch!

One of the few scenic views from the campground trail. Not too shabby!

Happy as a bee!

This was so cool. We had left the parking lot and as we passed Anderson's Viewpoint, we saw these hang gliders getting ready to launch and, as neither of us had seen them from the launch point we stopped to watch. So thrilling and involved! Apparently, there was a young woman there in the crowd who was deaf and the jumper asked her out of the blue if she'd like to go and she said "YES!" so we got to watch her go. I have often asked myself, if I had been asked, would I have gone? Keep in mind that there is nothing but trees and water about 10 steps off this cliff. Hummm, would I have gone....would you?
