July 1, 2012 A big, big day

So, you already know that the Wilson River Trail is
one of our favorite hikes for it's variety and all around training ground. Over twenty miles from Elk Creek to Keenig, it has hills, valleys, difficulties, scenic respite and it's share of boring brush covered areas as well. We've done all of the trails in this system and keep coming back for more! This time though, we wanted to challenge our endurance. We decided to tackle the entire trail from Elk Creek to Keenig--over 20 miles in one day.

We spent the night at Elk Creek campground with a neighboring "Mr. Friendly" camper who, upon seeing us get dropped off with our packs thought we were something special and offered us food and water and any thing else of interest. Annoying but cute.
The weather was decent--not too hot, not too cold and for once, not raining! As usual, the flowers graced the trail and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos.
This is about half way...no big deal. We made very good time.
Did I mention flowers lined the trail? I love spring!
We even got to practice some log climbing! This is great training for the PCT!

Streams abound along the trail.

Jeff loves me so much, he even had heart shaped blisters! Awwwww.
