Very slow and hot. We've been hiking 11 hours only to get 13
miles (15 if you add the 2 extra we had to go for water). Getting water was
actually fun. We had to go down a dry creek bed, do some rock scrambling and be
a little adventurous. We hit the trail an hour earlier to help with the heat
but still think it's not early enough. Tomorrow promises to be a long day as we
have 20 miles to go to Walker Springs where we meet Miriam for resupply and, it
is supposed to be well over 100. Due to water shortages, we'll also have to carry
extra water. The advantage is that our food will be low. TBG guy hung his socks
on a Joshua Tree to air out and when he put them on, he developed a rash in
identical places on each heel. I have a sunburn, but not debilitating. The
spring was nice-there was a cow water trough there so I washed my feet and
legs---water is such an amazing and refreshing commodity. I've never
appreciated it as much as recently! We carried 12 liters out of the spring.
Found a really neat campsite-perfect for sunset/sunrise. Met Snickers and
Butter as they passed by. They warned us about the high temp expected tomorrow.

A desert creature? Kind of -- it's a Joshua Tree! |

Home for the night. |
5 positives
1. Nice campsite; 2. Rock scrambling; 3. Trail angels; 4. Nice hikers; 5. Capt Crunch cereal!
